The mission of Junior Achievement is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.  Through a network of dedicated classroom mentors from the business community, Junior Achievement works with students and teachers in grades K -12 to implement curriculum focusing on seven key content areas:  business, economics, entrepreneurship,  financial literacy, workplace readiness, citizenship and ethics.

Junior Achievement of Greater Birmingham would like to thank the many outstanding foundations providing support this quarter:
 

The Daniel Foundation: $15,000 funding elementary school programming in Birmingham City Schools. Hill Crest Foundation: $5000 to fund after-school programs in the metro Birmingham area.    The Robert Meyer Foundation:  $5000 funding K-12 programs serving students at Girls, Inc. and enrichment programs with PING (Partners In Neighborhood Growth).   RBC Bank:  $5000 to K-12 programs in Bimringham City Schools and after-school programs in the metro area.    Rent A Center Foundation:  $4400 for programs in Birmingham City Schools.     United Technologies Corporation:  $5000 received for 5th grade students participating in Our Nation, which focuses on entrepreneurship and encourages students in the exploration of careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.    UPS Foundation:  $4550 for implementation of JA Be Entrepreneurial on 2010-11.   AT&T Foundation:  Over $30,000 for JA Job Shadow events in the metro area to address the alarming drop out rates our area faces.  Over 1000 students participated in the 2009-10 school year.
